I chose the Sri Lanka program because the culture and traditions have always been an interest of mine. I worked with The Green Lion in Kandy and they were wonderful. My bag did not arrive when I did and Hemantha took care of everything and had it in my room the next day.

Our accommodation was more than I expected. It was always clean and just had a comfortable atmosphere. Our meals were fantastic and I loved trying all the varieties of food they cooked for us. It was also nice they had tea available throughout the day 🙂

I did temple renovation with Tharusha and Chamal and they were great. They commuted to and from the placement with us and were always helpful at the temple. they provided supplies and would always check in to see how we were and keep us busy. I enjoyed the work and it was satisfying to see the difference we made. the best part of my day was seeing the children and how excited they were when we got there.

It was nice that someone was always available for questions or suggestions on things we do.

This was my first solo trip abroad and I couldn’t be happier. Everyone was welcoming and just wanted to makes sure I had what I needed. I would have never expected the people to have made such an impact on this trip. Between the Green Lion and the participants and everyone, I had a chance to meet along the way.

I actually extended my stay last minute because I was not ready to leave everyone.

 

I highly recommend The Green Lion for travels in Sri Lanka. I am very thankful for all they have done and they helped make my trip once in a lifetime. The networks I have created with all these people are priceless and I already know I will come back.
