I am Manich, I’m 23 years old and live in the Netherlands. I chose the educational project in Samrong, because I would like to contribute to the future of the local people.

After taking the time to adjust to the volunteer work, I felt more comfortable teaching at Greenway School. This is all thanks to the guidance of the local teachers and our coordinator. It also helped that the students were kind, polite and patient with me.

I really enjoy volunteering because of the appreciation I get from the students. They put in a great effort into learning, with big smiles on their faces. I also see that, from time to time, some students struggle with their studies. But I admire them because they persevere and are dedicated to their studies, even at their age.

There is this quote: “One person can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.” I fully agree with this and hope to encourage more people to start doing this kind of work. Especially with the experience of volunteering at Greenway School, I hope to inspire and persuade others to also volunteer.

Thank you very much Bong Ya and Bong Net for your hospitality. I am glad that I got to experience and learn about the most important cultural aspects of Cambodia. 

I also give my thanks and appreciation to the family and staff for their hospitality at Blue House Guest House. I liked that the meals were varied, the rooms had everything that we needed and the service of arranging transport to and from places were of much help.

Hopefully, I get the chance to visit Greenway School again next time when I’m in Cambodia.
