Cape Verde: Culture + Volunteer + Trekking | 21 days
Enjoy Cape Verde’s sunny coasts, Creole culture and hidden gems, then join two weeks of meaningful volunteer work.
This 3-week Cape Verde journey is your chance to go beyond the ordinary beach holiday and truly connect with the islands.
Your first week is all about cultural immersion. Based in the friendly coastal town of Tarrafal, you’ll dive into Cape Verdean life: learn Kriolu basics, explore colourful local markets, discover historic sites, and get hands-on with Cape Verdean cooking and fishing traditions. It’s the perfect warm-up to understand the spirit of the islands and bond with your fellow travellers.
Next, make a real impact during your volunteering week. You’ll spend weekdays fully focused on your chosen project. You will be supporting local communities in meaningful ways - from teaching kids in schools, coaching sports, and helping in childcare centres to renovating school facilities. You could also choose contributing to conservation and medical placements. Your afternoons and evenings are yours to chill, explore Tarrafal’s beaches, or plan fun hangouts with new friends. This week is all about giving back and experiencing Cape Verde from a local perspective.
Finally, wrap it up with a week of trekking and adventure across Santiago Island. Hike through lush green valleys, wander remote mountain trails, visit organic farms, and enjoy a traditional Cape Verdean lunch with a local family. Take on the epic Gon-Gon Valley “King-Track” hike and cap it all off with a scenic cycling tour around Tarrafal. Every day brings new challenges, breathtaking views, and unforgettable moments.
Designed for adventurous travellers this program lets you fully experience the heart and soul of Cape Verde while building new friendships, making a difference, and pushing your comfort zone in the best way possible.
