I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer as a teacher at Greenway School in Samrong while leading a group on an overseas experience. This journey has been truly rewarding—both culturally, personally, and in terms of human connections.

Teaching at Greenway School has given me invaluable insights into Khmer culture, the language, and the everyday life of the local community. From the moment I arrived, I was met with warmth and kindness from everyone—teachers, coordinators, and students alike. The teachers at the school are truly passionate about their work and go above and beyond to ensure that new volunteers feel welcome, comfortable, and included in the school community. Their dedication and enthusiasm are truly inspiring.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of this experience has been witnessing the excitement and joy in my own group members. They have thrived in their roles, embracing the chance to give back and experiencing the heartfelt gratitude from the children. The energy and positivity within the school are contagious, creating an environment where both students and teachers flourish.

This experience has been one of growth, connection, and meaningful contribution. I am incredibly grateful to have been part of such an impactful project and to have shared these moments with so many wonderful people. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone looking for a fulfilling volunteer experience to become part of Greenway School’s mission—it is an experience that will stay with me forever.
