Guilin High Speed Train

March 28, 2018

The Green Lion

If you have ever wanted to visit China, there is no better time than the present or very near future to do so! You can go from one province to another in a mere fraction of the time it used to take. Over the past decade, China has made it a priority to take its transportation infrastructure to a whole other level. It is now, what many might call, a thing of beauty and precision.

They have been adding kilometers and kilometers of track all over this vast country and much of the new construction is set to accommodate some of the fastest trains the world has ever seen. This hybrid of aerodynamic science and innovative technology has joined together to create a synergistic effect on the reliability factor and comfort level for the train traveling enthusiast!

With speeds that sometimes reach as high as 430 kms per hour, these high speed rail marvels race by so fast that you barely have enough time for your brain to recognize what it is seeing, before it is gone. These fast trains or β€œbullet trains” can take the wish of seeing two very different yet distant regions and quickly turn it into a reality. A trip that once took more than 24 full hours to make, can now be done in like 8 hours. Amazing and convenient!

That actually, opens up a whole new world of possibilities, if you are trying to decide between the dramatic landscape of Guilin with its one of kind geological formations, versus Chengdu, which is the region that is probably best known for its super spicy cuisine and adorable Giant Pandas. The option of enjoying both is so very doable! Question now is what to do when you get there?

Fortunately, you can choose to do Green Lion Programs in both locations and have your entire experience thoughtfully laid out for you, with a bit of sleek and comfortable adventure smack dab in the middle, transporting you from one amazing city to the next fun- filled adventure! You can decide to start in either location and then make your way to the other, whatever works best for you.

You might want to jumpstart your exploration with the Chengdu Culture Week, where you will get to discover some of the greatest sites, tastes and attractions of the region. Then spend a week bonding with some of the most adorable and lovable black and white creatures who call this region home, while learning more about the importance of conservation at the Panda Reserve.

As if that isn’t enough, you can then hop on a fast train to Guilin that will take you along one of the most scenic and lush routes, for a very reasonable cost (around 50 euros or so) that will get you excited about your next destination. If you are ready to jump right in and get a good feel for this region, known for its natural beauty, the Culture Week experience might be the perfect segue. You can opt for that guided immersion and then couple it with some time teaching English, assisting with Kindergarten aged children or even learning the Chinese language.

At the end of the day, what you do is all up to you! You can have the best of two worlds, with several breathtaking experiences, where you will enjoy an amazing ride, while making a bunch of new friends and memories at the same time. Now, who wouldn’t be onboard with that?
