It’s been an amazing experience being around the kids and interacting with them. The kindergarten project takes on the task of educating children from the age of 4 to 13 years old. They all are children from the slums, which means they don’t have a lot of material things such as clothes, food and toys. At the project, we bring lunch For us and the kids. So we eat with them after 2 hours of class time. In addition to all of this, the green lion coordinators pick them up in the morning and take them back in the afternoon. After driving to their homes and seeing how they live, it really did a huge impact on me. This whole journey has given me a lot of knowledge about the Indian culture, and how some families live. It’s important for them to be able to speak English because of the huge diversity of Indian languages throughout the country. The project really showed me the importance of knowledge and education for these kids. I would love to come back to be able to see the growth and progress of the kids. And I recommend this to anyone that wants to make an impact on these children’s lives.

After spending some time at the kindergarten I chose to try a different project which I was also very interested in. My coordinator came with me and we spent a couple of days at the elderly home for the men, and for the women. This project is based on the volunteers assisting the sisters that work at the homes. We did a lot of cleaning and interacted with the people staying there. We did activities with them since they don’t move that much during the day. They all were incredibly happy to have someone to talk to and tell their stories too. It was really nice, and the people were super lovely. There is a big difference between them because some are sicker than others. But everyone wanted to participate in the morning/ afternoon activities and games we offered them. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to put a smile on someone else’s face.
