December is the season of giving.

This is the time of the year when we reflect on how grateful we are for the blessings bestowed upon us and our families. We are also grateful to be living in the most diverse country in the world.

The Green Lion in Goa welcomed the month of December with lots of joy and happiness, in a way that each and every one of us could feel Christmas.

At the beginning of the month, we started to choose our Secret Santa, it was a new experience for kids to learn about Christmas. Everyone got a small gift and a letter from their Santa through which they exchanged their love and affection with each other. It was super exciting for them to know who their Santa was. The participants and coordinators taught the kids Christmas carols. The women of our women empowerment project to read out speeches in English with confidence. And Christmas gifts lit up their faces with joy.

During the celebrations and festivities, children got the chance to understand the meaning of Christmas and also they actively participated in the celebrations. They learnt how they can be grateful for what they have, and they taught us how they can be so grateful while having so little. On the International Migrants Day, we took the children of the slum outreach project on a picnic to a close-by reservoir where they could play and share cool drinks and snacks.

It was a great month of joy and happiness which gave wonderful memories for our participants to take home.
