The Green Lion
Thank you Isabelle!
November 28th, 2016
Thank you very much Isabelle Martin from Belgium, who kindly sponsored three students Mesa, Kan and Somdy with a new bicycle each, enabling them to travel to and from school quicker and easier each day. The boys really appreciate your kindness and generosity and love their new bikes π
Thanks again too for all the time and effort you’ve put in over the past couple of weeks while teaching Beginners class here at Greenway School. The students benefited greatly and were really sad to see you leave. They all had a great time and no doubt you did too.
Safe travels to your next destination Isabelle, and hope we can “see you again next time”
New Glass Boards
November 17th, 2016
Many thanks to Nikki Harris and Rachel Boland who fund-raised $1000 back home in Australia, to purchase 6 glass white boards for each of the classrooms that required one. All 9 of our classrooms now have them
The glass boards are much easier to read and write on and last a lifetime in the hot, humid weather we experience here. The teachers and students greatly appreciate using them.
Rachel and Nikki also purchased books, sports equipment and stationary items for the library and the remaining monies will be used to build toilet facilities on the adjacent land when construction commences during the dry season months.
Thank you both so much for your kindness and generosity, and to everyone who helped you raise the funds you donated back in Australia.
New Students!
November 16th, 2016
Today we had 105 newly enrolled students attend the school to do their entrance level test.
The score they achieve will determine what level they’ll start learning English in and they should all be ready to commence lessons beginning next week.
There were a few nervous faces amongst the kids, but the teachers and parents were all really happy to see them here.
Welcome new students to Greenway School
Independence Day and the annual Water Festival races
November 13th, 2016
Lots of excitement around the school and Samraong this week as it was Independence Day on Thursday and the annual Water Festival races were being held down at the town lake, finishing late on Friday night.
We knocked off school an hour early Friday afternoon so everyone could go with their families to watch the final races, followed by rides on the Ferris wheels and trampolines and fireworks to top it all off.
Thanks again to all the teachers for your hard work this week and farewell to those of you heading home or continuing on to your next destination.
Hope you can visit us here again in the future, and see ya next year Teacher Anouk, we’re counting down the days…
Great week!
November 6th, 2016
Rain or shine, work or play, the teachers and students had another great week together here at Greenway School…
Naomi and Afra
November 3rd, 2016
Nurses Naomi and Afra are participating on the Medical Outreach program and visited the Greenway School this week to teach the kids about Oral Health and Hand Hygiene.
The kids love getting involved and there’s never a shortage of “screaming participants” to demonstrate in front of the class.
Most importantly though it’s an effective way for the students to understand how to look after their teeth and gums, and to prevent the risk of sickness and infection from spreading.
Thanks very much Naomi, Afra and Tim Da Khmer for your energy and enthusiasm, and a very big thank you for the toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap bars gifted to the children Β To read more about their journey, head over here.
