The Green Lion
I have visited Philippines many times over the years, however, my experience with The Green Lion was something else.

During my orientation/culture week I learned basic Tagalog, watched a native tribal performance, built a roof made of coconut leaves, tasted delicious fruit from a farm surrounded by lush greenery, participated in a Filipino cooking class and explored the local market
Helping the community was just as fun. My role was to work within the Environmental project and my coordinator Jojo shared his knowledge on how Mangroves play an important role protecting the area from natural disasters while we planted mangrove seedlings along the rivers edge. Jojo also introduced me to some native wildlife in the area. I fed a cheeky monkey on my way to the mangroves, played with a frisky calf and rode a Carabao through rice paddies. How’s that for experience?!
During my down time, I enjoyed socializing with the warm & friendly locals, played with the cutest kids & shared stories with fellow travelers.
There was also plenty of social activities including; Thursday karaoke with Miko (who is a gun at singing tunes) and going on weekend adventures exploring El Nido & Puerto Princesa.
I absolute recommend this to anyone looking to go abroad. I cannot speak more highly of it! As a solo traveler, I stepped out of my comfort zone and have no regrets. Glory and her team made me feel supported, I made many new friends and have the best of memories.
This is truly an experience every traveler needs to try.
