UNFORGETTABLE TRIP IN VIETNAM

The Green Lion

Five weeks ago I was given this amazing opportunity to be apart of the medical participant team with The Green Lion.

The Green Lion is an extremely well organized organization that provides a structured schedule. The coordinators have provided the participants with a very warm environment where the participants feel like hey are at a home away from home. The best part is that we get to experience and learn so much about the charming country of Vietnam but still feel comfortable enough that it feels like Home
The great thing about this program is that there are multiple hands on skills for the participants to learn. Such as mixing medication, taking blood pressure, assisting in acupuncture, wound care, and observing in the OR, PT, and OT. This provides the participants with much to do.

Our coordinators are great at filling in the language barriers that the participants may have with nurses doctors and patients. But they are also great at teaching the participants basic Vietnamese that can be used to interact with the patients and their families. This makes it a very pleasant environment to work in. I was able to learn the most from the acupuncture doctors. Even though there might be a language barrier at some point they were still extremely helpful and very good mentors.

I learned a lot of about efficiency and skill from them. have created life long relationships and have learned lifelong skills. I was lucky enough to work with the charming people of Vietnam. This has been a great educational experience and I hope that I can come back one day and be apart of this community again. And spread my medical knowledge elsewhere in the world.

With a heavy heart I am leaving Vietnam only to hope to come back to my Green Lion family. This has been a life changing experience and I would like to encourage others to make a difference and help those around you. In the process you will make beautiful relationships.
