Cultural Night | The Green Lion Nepal

The Green Lion
The Nepalese always love to share their culture, tradition and costumes while they are also interested in learning about cultures from around the world. During the cultural week here in Kathmandu, we organize a special event called “the cultural night”. The cultural night is when all the participants and the Nepal team share the cultures, costumes and stories related to their respective countries every week. The entire Green Lion Nepal team, dressed in colourful traditional dress, attended the performance.
We began the cultural night at 6 pm with the introduction by our Coordinator Prema who described all about the traditional cultural dress that was worn by the TGL Nepal Team. All the participants and the Nepal team introduced themselves and all were excited about the cultural night.
We had groups from Germany, England and China and they were eagerly waiting to represent their cultures to everyone. The first participant to present was from England and then Germany followed.Β Our final participants were from China who started off with their traditional music and dancing and gradually introduced their modern music and dances. Not only we discussed our customs and traditions, but we also enjoyed singing and dancing performances throughout the night. Our program coordinator Ms Sanjita performed a cultural dance representing Nepal.
We played several games starting with the game βBall on Bucketβ, but only some of the participants managed to complete the game. Ms Rupa’s performance of a power-packed dance gave all in attendance a boost while getting ready for the next game βTug of Warβ which was won by The Green Lion Participants’ team.
Before concluding the cultural night, all the participants and the TGL team members posed for a photograph and thereafter everyone joined dancing for an English and Nepalese song. It was a great time for our participants and the Nepal team to get to know each other more and enjoy a beautiful evening.
The event concluded with laughter and happy faces which reminded us that, though we come from all the corners of the world, though we have our own values and customs to boast, we were still one family.
