Hey, I’m Tanja, I’m 19 and I came to Costa Rica for nine weeks. I did the teaching project which I can definitely recommend if you like spending time with children (age 8-13).

From Monday to Friday I went to school where I helped a teacher with reading texts and checking exercises in her English class. The thing I enjoyed the most was talking to the children during break and lunchtime although my Spanish isn’t that good. But everyone was very nice and helped me a lot.

After my project, I spent the rest of the day with the other participants at the house. It’s a really nice place and the family who lives there is very lovely. Andy, the organizer of the projects cares a lot and makes delicious food! He also helped us plan our weekend. At the weekend we usually went on a two day trip to another place in Costa Rica and have had an amazing time together.

All in all, the project was a perfect opportunity to get in contact with people from all over the world as well as with local people. It’s a good combination of “working” and travelling and I’m so thankful for this incredible experience!
