The Green Lion

India is ethnically diverse nations in the world with varied religious societies and cultures. Religion plays a main and definitive role in the lives of many people. India is known for the World Heritage sites with amazing nature, culture and beautiful monuments, and Himalayan landscape with beautiful views of the Himalayan mountains. So we commenced our journey through this magical yet mysterious land.

We arrived at Delhi the Capital city of India on Sunday. On Monday morning, taking a trip on the historic UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla toy train is like travelling back in time. It provides one of the most scenic train journeys in India. It enlivened us as it gradually winds its way steeply upwards along the narrow track, through rugged mountains and pine forests. We later visited the historical temple which is the Hanuman Temple which is situated on the highest point of Shimla. We journeyed through the bustling local market and acclimatized to the Himalayan environment.

Our participants hiked in the mountains and we had a Panoramic view of the Himalayan mountains. We visited the Dharamshala the home of the Dalai Lama. As we walk through the monasteries an amazing waterfalls and chirping of birds all around and It excited us to take a holy walk the way the locals do.

We hopped inside a bus to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, it’s an Incredible place that stood out left us with unforgettable memories and now holds a very special place in our hearts. Sprawling and hectic Amritsar, the Sikhs’ holiest city in the world, is situated in the north-west of India in Punjab. The Golden Temple is a holy place for both the Sikhs and Hindu. Later moved to visit the Taj Mahal it is renowned for the symbol of LOVE. Spent time marvelling at its beauty which is situated beside the Yamuna river.

As we put our step forward to see the vibrant culture, beautiful lakes. Thar desert is one of the top places to visit in Jaisalmer. Camel safari was super fun. Our travellers watched one of the most splendid sunsets that we have ever seen, our first in a desert. Surrounded by a barren land around us and a galaxy of stars above, a sense of emptiness passed through our thoughts as the night set in. The desert itself evokes these emotions and as thousands of stars take over the night sky, you can’t help feeling like a tiny spec of dust in this huge space called the universe. The authentic food was delicious followed by a cultural dance with a bonfire.

Our adventure did not stop here, we embark into Goa to involve in the community engagement services, which is the best part of our experience. It is fun to teach English for migrant kids at the kindergarten, teach them basic etiquette, hygiene habits and creative stuff. At noon get to interact with women who have been abandoned, mistreated in their family and society. Our participants involve educating women to live a better lifestyle. Create new ideas for starting own business. This helps in empowering women in various ways. The food at our centre was delicious and clean Enjoyed the food and we have lovely coordinators who stood by us through in and throughout. They gave us a farewell speech and souvenirs to carry back home which meant a lot for us.
